Perspective

What is perspective? Simply, perspective is the way you look at things. There are many different ways in looking at things. When your partner or someone close is going abroad for a few months or years, how do you look at this situation? Some people may look at this as something sad, as they will be apart for a long time, not able to meet each other, distanced relationship seems hard to maintain, and so on. However, some may look at this positively, they treat this as a test for their relationship, they felt happy for their closed one as this is a good exposure and prospective for their closed one, and they provide support to their closed one. This is the different ways of looking at a same situation, in other words, a different perspective.

When you lose your job, how do you know that it is a bad thing? Is losing your job the end of the world? No, of course!! If you think positively, losing a job means you get a chance for a better job. If you don’t lose your job, you don’t even have a chance for a change, thus there won’t even be a chance for improvement. As the chinese saying goes: 塞翁失马,焉知非福. Meaning the old man loses his horse, how does he know that it is not a blessing? Thus, always look at things positively. Happy or sad, you still have to live with it, as this is your life, then why not we choose to live happily? The choice is all yours!

Money

What is money??? Why does everyone looking for money, and why is money so important? Money is a medium of exchange in the form of coins and banknotes. With money, we can have lots of things, for instance, we can buy a house, a car, enjoy good food, enjoy life, help others who is in need, etc.

But why everyone is looking at money so importantly??? Everyone is working so hard day and night, 5 days a week, overtime during the weekend, for what? Definitely it's for money!!! Because without money, you will not have the extras to enjoy, and some people work hard just to make ends meet. Thus, work hard for money everyday seems to be the right thing to do.

However, some people neglected their family, their significant half, and their friends, just to work hard for more and more money. Is money so important that family, partners, and friends can be ignored? Is money everything? Can we buy family with money? The answer is no! We could use money to buy a house, but not home! We could use money to buy a clock, but not time! Money isn't everything! No doubt that money is important, but it doesn't represent everything.

Thus equilibrium is of utmost important. We must work hard to earn more money, but not to neglect our families as well. It is not easy to achieve such balance though, as many people tend to work too hard for money and sometimes it's too late for us to appreciate our family. So, remember! Money is not everything! Appreciate your family while you still can!

Baby's cooking at our house~~~

It was Saturday, when we planned to have our own meal in our own house. Since we had outside food almost everyday, and we were sick of thinking where to eat, cooking at home is the best solution after all. Days before, we had our shopping spree at a few nearby shopping centers, for seasonings, various kind of veges, meats, eggs, etc.

Walla~~~ Here's the home cooked food from us. This is among the 1st few meal in our house. We had the "steam 3-flavoured eggs 三味蛋" which consists of century egg, salted duck egg, and chicken egg. Next is the "Seaweed soup 紫菜汤" which consists of seaweed, various type of fishballs, and sausage. The third one is the "fried cabbage with carrot" which consists of small prawns fried with sauteed cabbage and carrot.

This is the "before and after" photo. Eating halfway, then only we found out that the 3 dishes were enough for 4 person... :S So there goes to the fridge, and we had the same 3 dishes on the next day... :p

Although it is just a simple meal, but we enjoyed it a lot. We had fun planning on what to cook, enjoyed cooking together in the kitchen, criticizing the taste of the food, and hoping to improve our skills later on.

Friends~~~

In general, there are many kinds of friends you will meet throughout the walks of life. There are friends from your primary school, high school, college/university, co-curricular activities, and friends from your work place. You will notice that friends are different from stage to stage.

Primary and high school friends are relatively more naïve, in other words, the friendship is purer and full of sincerity. University pals are a little different; some of the friends beside you were to gain advantage of you, perhaps for study notes or examination tips. Without advantage, they will not even consider to teach you things that they know, or they don’t even bother to befriend you. This is still acceptable, because you can see the real face/behavior of a person.

However, when you grew older and step into the “rat race” world, u will see even more types of people. Competition is everywhere and ‘mask’ is usually worn. But there’s always a good side of a situation, u will find people who is really good to you, who really willing to teach you things and convey all his/her knowledge to you. This kind of friends is generous and sincere, and indeed worthwhile for us to consider them as true friends. When there’s issue happening or facing roadblocks, you will get to see the real behavior of the friends around you, and that’s when you can find true friends. :D

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all my true friends around me, from all stages. U guys have been there for me all these while, no matter in sunny or rainy days. I truly appreciate it. Friends forever~~~

My first birthday celebration with my baby

Hmm, the title sounds weird, like I celebrated 1st birthday for my baby. However, that’s not the case; it is my first birthday with my bf. :p

It was back in 2006, when I’m still in my 2nd year of university life. My baby just graduated that time and he is working in Penang island, and our university is in Nibong Tebal, mainland. So when my birthday is around the corner, I thought I will never get to celebrate my birthday with him, since requesting him to come all the way from Penang island after work is a bit too much.

That’s what I thought, but still, I asked him will he come over and celebrate with me. I remembered he told me he won’t be able to make it, because he has a lot of work at hand, and will replace back for me in the coming weekend. Feeling frustrated and sad, thinking of celebrating my birthday alone, with the company of dramas and café food (which we had almost twice everyday and the food sucks), some more it’s my first birthday with him, that was really down for me.

I remembered I took a nap after class on that day, and my roommate and friends asked me for dinner in the café. My roommate called me through my handphone, saying that they all are waiting for me in the café. So I quickly have a change and rush down to the café, wondering what they had planned for me. To my surprise, when I reach the café entrance, I saw my baby’s car parking there. It was him who ‘pakat’ with my roommate and ask her to call me down, so that I did not notice that he is already here. My roommate knew much earlier that he will be here to celebrate for me and pretend that she knows nothing. I was so surprise that time as I thought he has work to do and won’t celebrate birthday for me. My tears dropped down as I saw him. He smiled at me and took me out for a dinner. I was really so touched and he just made my heart melts.

We had dinner at some restaurant and he suggested that we go to the riverside to walk walk (riverside is the only place near our campus for lovers to have a walk and quiet talk). So we went to the riverside, and found a place to sit down. He then told me that he left something in the car, so he went to take it. And here comes the 2nd surprise! He brought a cake in his hands with the candles lit on, and I can hear birthday songs coming from him. :) Again, I was so touched and my tears dropped down. From celebrating with dramas and café food, now it turns out to be such a memorable event. At that moment, I felt so lucky to have such a bf.

We ate few slices of the cake and I took back the remaining for my roommates. The story doesn’t end here!! When we are to go back, he turned to the back seat of the car and took out a transparent box. It is full of stars~~~ It has 719 stars which represent my birth date and all the stars are hand made by him! Wow…. That was the 3rd surprise I had that day, the surprises keep coming and coming, really amazing and unpredictable~~~ I can’t believe that he made all the stars himself, folding 719 stars is not an easy job, but he told me that he made all by himself, he even rejected his cousin sister’s offer to help him fold.

When I stir my finger into the box full of stars, simply playing with it, suddenly I felt something like a small box inside. To my surprise, there’s a small box containing a crystal cube in it. And in the cube is a carving of a love shape. What a surprise~~~ This is the 4th surprise I think. It’s driving me out of my mind, the surprises came one after another, It’s just so exciting and tempting!! My baby knows that I like surprises, as all gals do. Thus he gave me 4 surprises in just one birthday. It is so memorable that I definitely will not forget about it after all these years. Love is in the air~~~

I love you, baby~~~

Achievement~~~

What is achievement??? What does the word ‘achievement’ implies? Achievement is a thing that is brought about or accomplished by effort, skill, or courage (quoted from Oxford Dictionary). For me, achievement is a satisfying feeling that brings me through the walks of life. Without this feeling, I doubt that I will make it this far.

From a child to an adult, each and everyone needs achievements to survive in this world. An infant will laugh happily when he started his first meaningful word out from the mouth and when he makes his first step independently. A kid will proudly shows his report book to his parents when he achieve good grades in the exam. A teenager will show-off his medals to his friends when he got champion in a badminton tournament. A working adult will share his promotion at work with his family and friends.

In these 25 years, I truly appreciate what I have achieved thus far. I’m very excited when I got my 1st ladies champion trophy in chess competition. From there, my interest in chess built up and it brings me further on and on. Talking about this, I will have to thank my dad for introducing the game of chess to me. I remember I have no interest at all in chess when my dad first taught me. It was his determination and encouragement that makes my interest grows. We will spend time on analyzing the games played in previous tournaments; we even practice almost every night before the tournaments. By achieving more and more trophies and “popularity”, the satisfaction feeling makes me want to achieve even more. This is the drive that cultivates the talents in oneself which may not be discovered until then.

For me, achievement is a very important element in life. Without achievements, I can never imagine how life would be. Most probably life would be dull, no satisfaction, it would be just a straight line. I can’t live without it!

Thanks for always being there for me :)

It has been 3+ years of memorable and precious moment with you. 3 years has passed in just a blink. I always know that you are good to me, care for me and love me. You have always been here with me, give me courage, necessary support and all the care I need.

Thanks for cracking jokes whenever I’m feeling down;

Thanks for making fun of yourself to make me laugh;

Thanks for fetching me everywhere, everyday, without complaining;

Thanks for being understanding while I throw tantrum to you;

Thanks for being a good listener when I need someone to talk to;

Thanks for everything you bring to my life.

I’m sure there will be many more years of happy moments awaiting us. Let’s work together to achieve all our goals in our life.

Here is a poem from me:

It's so nice to have u beside,

When u r around, everything seems so bright.

Now that I have realized,

I can't live without u by my side.
